“Grab your ticket and get your outfit ready for one of the most exciting nights in Baton Rouge this summer,” MidCity Redevelopment Alliance posted on Facebook on Monday.
The event, “MidCity’s Got Talent,” hits the stage for the first time at 6 p.m. Friday at Hilton Capitol Center’s first-floor Riverview Ballroom in Baton Rouge. In addition to the live performances, the gala evening will include a banquet, open bar, silent auction and local celebrity judges Mayor-President Sid Edwards, singer Quintana Lynell, Neighbor Works’ James Ross and WAFB’s Johnny Ahysen.
The selection process yielded seven performers who will entertain the crowd while competing for the $1,000 prize.
They are:
- Lynn A. Anselmo, a seasoned songwriter who’s been honing his craft for more than 50 years, and with a deep-rooted passion for music, continues to perform original songs weekly throughout south Louisiana;
- Audi, The Artist, who, for over 20 years, has poured her heart into music, with songs spinning on both digital platforms and local radio stations;
- Chassyd, a vocalist and mother of five, who says music holds a special place in her soul;
- Gwenda Phoenix Bourgeois, an accomplished belly dancer who has dived deep into the dynamic Bohemian Blade style;
- Issy Mathes, a singer-songwriter blending alternative rock and soul with raw emotion and lyrical depth, she’s also lead vocalist of her six-piece band, ISSY;
- Randy Martono‑Chai (Randy MC), a classically trained pianist and soulful vocalist who blends the elegance of Western classical music with the energy of pop, R&B and gospel; and
- Autumn Percival, 16, who studies theater arts and performance at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
All proceeds from “MidCity’s Got Talent” will go to support Mid City Redevelopment Alliance. Tickets are priced at $108.55 and available at MidCityRedevelopment.org.
