After a 2020 movie debut flop, the adaptation of a popular book might finally get a second chance at success, but this time as a TV show. A new rumor suggests that Disney is developing an Artemis Fowl animated series, aiming to redeem one of its biggest fantasy misfires in recent years.

The scooper posted, “[An] Artemis Fowl animated series is in development for Disney+.” The news has got fans hopeful that a rebooted TV adaptation could finally do justice to Eoin Colfer’s widely loved eponymous book, something the 2020 movie failed to accomplish.

The Artemis Fowl book series follows a 12-year-old genius and criminal prodigy who kidnaps an elf named Holly Short to restore his family’s fortune. Over the course of 11 books, Artemis evolves from an antihero into a complex, morally grounded character. Despite its magical premise and strong cast, including Ferdia Shaw, Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Judi Dench, and Colin Farrell, the movie adaptation seemingly failed to capture the charm and complexity of the novels.
