Foggy Notions and National Concert Hall are proud to announce the return of Haunted Dancehall to Dublin on Saturday 25 October — a one-day convergence of world-builders, sonic visionaries, and boundary-breakers.
Voted an Irish Times Festival of the Year in 2022 and 2023, Haunted Dancehall 2025 brings together some of the most vital and imaginative voices in contemporary electronic and experimental music.
From seismic low-end dub to meditative jazz, lo-fi folk to ambient soundscapes, the lineup features artists working at the very edge of genre — including The Bug, Róis, Shabaka, Andy Stott, Joanne Robertson, Elaine Howley, Milan W. and more.

The Bug presents Machine feat. Magugu
The Bug is the primary alias of Kevin Martin—one of the most uncompromising and visionary figures in underground electronic music. With a discography spanning brutalist dancehall, apocalyptic dub, and dystopian hip-hop, Martin’s projects like Techno Animal, King Midas Sound, and Razor X Productions have earned cult status and critical acclaim. His live shows, which are low-end heavy have become the stuff of legend. For Haunted Dancehall, he presents Machine. Magugu, whose rapid-fire flows have made him a breakout voice in contemporary grime and bass music will join to bring proceedings to a close.

RÓIS
RÓIS is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and electronic artist whose work reshapes the sonic memory of Ireland. Her music delicately intertwines sean-nós, folk, electronics, and jazz harmony—an alchemy that is both ancient and futuristic. Her songs are both lullabies and laments, mythic and modern.

Shabaka
A leading voice in global spiritual jazz, Shabaka Hutchings rose to prominence with genre-defining groups like Sons of Kemet, The Comet is Coming, and Shabaka and the Ancestors. His work has appeared on Impulse!, Brownswood, and XL, and he’s credited with revitalising the UK jazz scene. In 2024, Shabaka announced a sabbatical from the saxophone, turning instead to flutes—a shift that deepened his focus on breath, silence, and ceremony. Andy Stott
A cornerstone of modern experimental electronics, Manchester producer Andy Stott has spent the last decade pushing the emotional and sonic boundaries of club music. From early dub techno releases on Modern Love to more texturally adventurous works like Luxury Problems and Faith in Strangers, Stott has carved a signature style: immersive, ghostly, often devastating.

Joanne Robertson
A singular voice in contemporary music, Joanne Robertson is a musician, painter, and longtime collaborator of Dean Blunt—appearing on acclaimed works such as Black Metal and Backstage Raver. But her solo work, particularly her most recent album, reveals the full depth of her artistic vision.
Her just released album Blurrr on AD93, a collection of stark, emotionally potent songs that feel at once distant and painfully intimate. Built from lo-fi textures, gentle guitar work, and diaristic vocals, the album earned widespread praise for its vulnerability and raw, dreamlike beauty.

Elaine Howley
A vital force in Ireland’s experimental underground, Elaine Howley blends analog synths, tape loops, and haunted vocals to create immersive sonic worlds. Her 2022 solo debut The Distance Between Heart and Mouth was met with wide acclaim for its introspective and emotionally charged textures.

Dylan Henner
Shrouded in mystery but highly respected, Dylan Henner emerged onto the ambient scene in 2020 with releases on Phantom Limb, Dauw, and AD93. Known for poetic track titles and atmospheric compositions, Henner lets the music speak for itself—delicate, emotive, and quietly radical.

Milan W.
Milan W. Milan W. (aka Milan Warmoeskerken) has become a cornerstone of the Flemish experimental scene and crafts music that is intimate yet expansive. His 2024 album Leave Another Day has become a cult classic.

Jasmine Wood
Hailing from the DIY underworld of Portland, Oregon and now based in Dublin, Jasmine Wood is a composer and multimedia artist whose music fuses ambient folk, experimental textures, and performance art. Her 2024 album Piano Reverb is an ambient meditation which has garnered global acclaim.

Saoirse Miller
An emerging Irish voice exploring folklore, mysticism, and ambient electro-acoustic music, Saoirse Miller merges harp-like melodies with processed field recordings and abstract textures. Her compositions are like rituals—slowly unfolding, emotionally resonant, and spiritually grounded.

Quade
Bristol-based quartet Quade (Barney Matthews, Matt Higgins, Tom Connolly, Leo Fini) describe their sound, half-jokingly, as “doomer sad-boy, ambient dub, folk, experimental post-rock.” Their music is rich in atmosphere, echoing the likes of Bark Psychosis and Seefeel, but with a voice all their own.
