For thousands of years, the ultimate expression of status, power, and freedom lived in the stables. For our fathers and grandfathers in India, that mechanical steed became the Royal Enfield Bullet-a living piece of cultural significance. But can a modern, twin-cylinder retro motorcycle make a 25-year-old stop and stare the way the original 350 did back in the 1980s?
In this first ride review, we are testing the highly anticipated Royal Enfield Bullet 650. Ripping out the old single-cylinder motor, Royal Enfield has armed this 243kg machine with their masterpiece 648cc parallel-twin engine, pushing out 47bhp and 52Nm of peak torque.
Purists will argue that by making it fast, smooth, and vibration-free, Royal Enfield has ripped the soul out of what makes a real Bullet. But do modern riders really want to be shaken to pieces? We take it out on the highway, push it through the urban jungle, and break down its global positioning, handling quirks, and real-world ride quality to see if it truly is a modern, talky heirloom.
