Netflix has rolled out its October lineup, featuring the return of a Ghost Rider film. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance to release on Netflix in October
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will arrive on Netflix in the United States on October 1, 2025, as part of the platform’s monthly lineup (via What’s on Netflix). The 2012 film stars Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze, a stuntman cursed as the Ghost Rider. The cast also includes Ciarán Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba, and Johnny Whitworth. Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor tell the story of Blaze as he joins a secret sect to protect a boy from the devil’s forces.
The sequel to 2007’s Ghost Rider filmed scenes in Romania and Turkey. Darker visuals were used to depict a grittier version of the character. The studio spent about $57 million on production, far less than the $110 million spent on the first film. The movie opened in February 2012 and earned $132.5 million worldwide. Critics reacted poorly, giving it an 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 34 on Metacritic.
Cage later announced that he was “done” with the Ghost Rider movies. The third installment did not get made after that. In 2013, the film rights returned to Marvel Studios. The character later appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. through the Robbie Reyes version.
