Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano is being accused of trying to “stay relevant” after she shared a video trolling Taylor Swift fans.
“When my kids ask if I was a Swiftie,” the Even Stevens alum wrote over a TikTok video shared Monday, January 19. In the clip, Carlson Romano slowly turned from the driver’s seat to face the back passengers, showing a disgusted, disapproving look on her face as Biggie Smalls blasted from the radio.
“That’s a Negative Ghost Rider 😎” she captioned the post.
Social media users in her comments section did not take kindly to the former child star’s apparent shade.
“No one talks about Taylor more than her haters,” one person commented.
“It’s weird to make an entire video to declare this….” another wrote.
“I dont get why one would go out of their way to declare they dont like someone’s music, but hey,” a third added.
Other fans referenced lines from Swift’s “Actually Romantic” and “thanK you aIMee” to call out Carlson Romano.
The Kim Possible alum was forced to share a follow-up video to clarify her intentions.
“Guys, you know that Taylor Swift is like, OK, right? She doesn’t care about what anybody says about her,” Carlson Romano said. “She’s an incredibly confident, wealthy, business savvy woman. She’s totally been killing life. Got a great voice, does a great job at producing music. I’m not worried about whatever I have to say on the matter of me liking hip hop from when I grew up.”
Carlson Romano went on to say that she felt bullied in her comment section.
She continued, “I didn’t say anything about Miss Taylor Swift, didn’t say anything about her music quality or whether I liked it, or whether I actually listened to her music or not. Just that I wasn’t a Swiftie.”
