“I can’t believe that the moment has finally arrived when I get to share share something of mine, finally my voice can be heard and I don’t need to whisper anymore, don’t need to fear,” Gilboa wrote.
Former Hamas hostage Daniella Gilboa shared a preview of her newly released song on Sunday, one year after being freed from captivity.
“I can’t believe that the moment has finally arrived when I get to share something of mine, finally my voice can be heard, and I don’t need to whisper anymore, don’t need to fear,” Gilboa wrote in an Instagram post on her personal account. “From here, I’m setting off on a new path.”
The preview of her unnamed new song, inspired by her time as a hostage in the Gaza Strip, includes the lyrics “Fighting not to remember / Promising not to break / But even so, how time passes / Everything flashes before my eyes / Even when my head gets confused / I remember how everything is better / And how there’s no place like home.”
Previously, Gilboa had “only dreamed” of being so vulnerable and exposed in front of so many people, she shared. “Today, after a year of working on myself, I feel more confident in opening my heart.”
The freed hostage also shared that her song was written in collaboration with Israeli musician Gil Vain, and thanked him for his help.
Gilboa abducted from Nahal Oz on October 7
Gilboa was one of the seven female IDF observers abducted from the Nahal Oz military base on October 7.
She returned to Israel in January 2025, along with fellow IDF observers Naama Levy, Karina Ariev, and Liri Albag, after spending nearly 500 days as a hostage in Hamas captivity.
