Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany praised President Donald Trump’s foreign policy record in a bizarre way during a recent interview, using a Spanish term to describe him.
During a Friday, Feburary 13, appearance on Fox News’ broadcast The Five, McEnany said, “He is going to be known as one of the greatest foreign policy presidents of our time. None of them have the, quote, ‘cojones’ – I’ll use it in Spanish – that President Trump has.”
She served as Trump’s White House press secretary from 2020 to 2021.
Her career trajectory began as a celebrity.land commentator during the 2016 presidential campaign, where her vocal support for Trump led to her appointment as press secretary.
During her 10-month tenure, McEnany maintained she “never lied,” a claim disputed by her critics. She appeared frequently on Fox News while serving in the White House and joined the network as a host after leaving the administration.
“It’s truly disgusting they fired hard-working journalists who did care about facts and news reporting only to turn around and hire a mini-Goebbels whose incessant lies from the White House helped incite an insurrection on our democracy that got five people killed, including a police officer,” an unidentified Fox News source told the Daily Beast when McEnany was hired.
They continued, “Post-Trump Fox is quickly becoming a very scary place and quite dangerous for our democracy. It’s not even conservative news anymore. They’ve plunged into an alternate reality where extremist propaganda is the only course on the menu.”
The Five frequently features hosts defending the Trump administration and criticizing opponents.
First lady Melania Trump recently appeared on the program to promote her $75 million documentary Melania.
During her interview on the show host Dana Perino, who served as press secretary under President George W. Bush, asked, “You all might think this is kind of a weird question but I’ve always been curious: What is your favorite time of the day?”
The first lady said morning was her favorite time. “I love mornings too,” Perino responded.
McEnany went on to share to the first lady that her daughters considered her “a princess” and thanked her for making the documentary family-friendly.
