Frank Turner is taking “some space” from new music

Because of the record, Turner has finally been freed from the cycle of “touring, recording, releasing”. As such, he is enjoying slowing things down.

Turner welcomes the break from writing music, sharing, “I already have enough fucking trouble writing a set list as it is! I can give it some space.”

The ‘Be More Kind’ singer wants to ensure he hones his art in a healthy way that encourages natural creativity: “Writing because I want to write, rather than writing because I have to write… Finding that place where the writing is coming from a more kind of natural, honest place.”

In an exclusive interview with Far Out last November, Turner echoed much of this sentiment, sharing, “I don’t want to just churn out another record because I’m the sort of person that releases records.”

In an effort to shake off the claws of the industry, Turner has newly turned to poetry, sharing, “The act of writing without music in mind… it’s so liberating to write words without having to think about the chord changes underneath them.”

In a review of Undefeated, Far Out wrote, “As the album is so extensive, Turner enthusiastically crosses many different sonic realms, delving back into his long history to bring a work to life that ranks among his most affecting at points, filled with as much candour as his wry humour.”

Despite the stoppage for any new music, Turner has a busy few months ahead, as he will hit the road with Bowling For Soup in May, June, and July for a co-headline tour across the UK and Australia.
