Most people don’t think of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens as a nightlife destination, but on certain evenings, it transforms into a 21-and-older hotspot.
Almost monthly for 17 years, a popular event series has made the conservatory a hive of after-hours activity with local drink vendors, food trucks, live music, and other entertainment.
“Cocktails at the Conservatory,” which debuted in September 2008, features a different theme at each event. April 16 will bring “Petals & Prosecco,” where guests can enjoy the blooms and imbibe some bubbly.
Next, it’s off to “A Night at the Races” on May 1. Dress to the nines for a Kentucky Derby-style party with themed trivia and, of course, a hat contest.
The series will continue with these events:
- “Summer of Sangria,” July 17: Sample an array of refreshing, fruit-filled sangrias.
- “From Vine to Vintage,” Aug. 6: Wines will showcase the flavors of the season and guests can take part in a botanical scavenger hunt.
- “Ultimate TAILgate,” Sept. 24: Dogs are welcome at this sports-themed celebration offering craft beers and hard seltzers, a live DJ and games such as cornhole, foosball, darts, and inflatable football toss.
- “Spirits & Spells,” Oct. 29: Local distilleries scare up spooky, creative cocktails.
- “Sleigh Bell Sips,” Dec. 2-3: Enjoy the enchanting “Conservatory Aglow,” as well as holiday cocktails and seasonal beer samples from local breweries and mixologists.
Each event in the “Cocktails at the Conservatory” series runs from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
All guests will be required to show a valid, physical ID (no photos or copies) at the door, regardless of age.
Tickets, which cost $35 general admission and $30 for members, include a sample from each drink vendor and must be reserved in advance at fpconservatory.org/cocktails.
