Before the New England cold inevitably ruins our plans, take advantage of this week’s “summer-like heat,” with free outdoor activities, including a block party at Assembly Row, volleyball and pickleball at Club Volo, and a watercolor lesson. Here are five no-cost events and activities — and one way to save — for the week of Sept. 8-14.

WATERCOLOR WELCOME Try your hand at al fresco watercolor painting with a guided lesson by Ashley Eisenman, a Boston-based painter and illustrator. Eisenman, who is teaching the weekly classes at Lyrik through September, will bring her landscape and portrait expertise to a hands-on workshop, and all art supplies will be provided. Sessions are an hour long with staggered arrivals at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. RSVPs are required and open Mondays at 5 p.m. Sept. 10, 4-7 p.m. Lyrik Back Bay, 400 Newbury St. lyrikbackbay.com

MUSEUM MUSIC MassArt Art Museum will host Twilight, its fall welcome-back party, which opens the museum at night for the general public. Nicholas Galanin, whose work is featured in the gallery, and Benjamin Verdoes will co-DJ the event. Attendees will receive a drink ticket for a complimentary beer, wine, or mocktail, and various hors d’oeuvres will be offered. (Must be 21+ to imbibe, but not to attend.) Sept. 11, 6-9 p.m. MassArt Art Museum, 621 Huntington Ave. maam.massart.edu

THE MAGIC OF MUSIC The fourth annual East Boston Latin Music & Dance Festival comes to the heart of Eastie on Friday. Performances will be across two stages featuring a variety of live musical and dance acts including tango, salsa, ballet, hip-hop, and Brazilian bolero. Local Latin restaurants will showcase their culinary offerings with free tastings, while artists will offer face painting and sell crafts and clothing. Sept. 12, 3-9 p.m. East Boston Memorial Park, 143 Porter St. East Boston, zumix.org/events

SYNTH SONGS Put your best shoulder pads on for Cisco Brewers’ ’80s-themed Silent Disco, where attendees are strongly encouraged to dress for the occasion. Two live DJs will spin individual mixes of ’80s pop hits and dance tracks, and attendees will be provided headphones that allow them to switch between the two sets. Sept. 12, 8-10 p.m. Cisco Brewers Seaport, 85 Northern Ave. eventbrite.com

ALL-DAY ACTIVITIES Riverfest, Assembly Row’s end-of-summer block party, opens the mixed-use development to vendors and family-friendly activities, like a bounce house obstacle course in the Baxter Park Oval and an Artisan Way chalk walk. Athletic hub Club Volo, which is nestled at the center of Assembly, will offer complimentary access to its four volleyball courts, six pickleball courts, and two soccer fields throughout the day. From 1-6 p.m., live performances can be caught on the lawn, followed by a fireworks show above Mystic River to end the day. Sept. 13, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. 355 Artisan Way, Somerville. assemblyrow.com

COMMUNITY SPIRIT More than 100 businesses and nonprofits will pop up for Brookline Day on Harvard Street, which will be pedestrian-only in Coolidge Corner for the duration of the event. The event will feature live music, games, and giveaways, including performances by Boston-based children’s entertainer Vanessa Trien, folk band The New Grown-Ups, and School of Rock, a student rock band from Watertown. Sept. 14, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Coolidge Corner, Harvard Street. brooklinerec.com

PEDAL UP While the MBTA Green Line’s D branch is down for repairs through Sept. 11, locals and commuters can receive up to five free Bluebikes rentals with the code MBTAGREEN925 via the Bluebikes app. The discount is first-come, first-served, and ebikes will incur a surcharge of $0.25/minute, as will classic bike rentals over 30 minutes. boston.gov
