The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards lit up the UBS Arena in Elmont, N.Y. on Sunday (Sept. 7), as figures in music, fashion, and undeniable Black excellence took center stage on the red carpet.
The night’s biggest headliners included LL Cool J, who had double duty as host and presenter, Busta Rhymes, who received the inaugural Rock The Bells Visionary Award, and Mariah Carey, who was honored with this year’s coveted Vanguard Award. But the red carpet itself brought out a mix of icons, newcomers, and reality stars.
Ciara, GloRilla, Doja Cat, Shenseea, Gunna, Colin Kaepernick, Lenny Kravitz, Chance The Rapper, and Jermaine Dupri were among the stars who attended. Love Island’s Olandria Carthen and Ace made their official VMAs debut, with Olandria setting the carpet ablaze in a sheer red corset gown with gloves and a dramatic train. Ace kept it cool in a sleeveless flannel layered over a crisp white shirt and jeans.
Aside from the carpet, Latto and Ice Spice linked up to present an award, Doja Cat delivered one of the night’s most theatrical performances, and Summer Walker turned heads by stepping out with a new beau.
From daring fashion to unforgettable moments, take a look at the Black stars on the 2025 MTV VMAs red carpet.
