LOS ANGELES — The Grammy Museum on Wednesday announced it was extending its special pop-up exhibit “Selena: From Texas to the World” through May 11.
The museum said the exhibit, which opened in January, has now become one of the most popular exhibits in its 18-year history — attracting not only local visitors but also those from throughout California and beyond.
“We are deeply moved by the outpouring of love from Selena fans who have visited this special exhibit at the iconic Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Its extension is a powerful testament to her enduring spirit, carried forward by fans across generations,” said Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla in a statement.
Because of high attendance, the Grammy Museum is telling visitors that admission is subject to capacity, and advanced tickets do to guarantee entry. The museum may also temporarily pause or stop entry earlier than closing time once capacity is reached. Selena exhibit tickets may be used at any time during the exhibit’s full run.
“Selena: From Texas to the World” features artifacts for the first time outside of the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi.
Beginning March 18, the Queen of Tejano music’s iconic purple jumpsuit will be added to the exhibit. Selena created the now-iconic purple bell-bottomed jumpsuit and matching jacket, which became one of her most recognizable looks.
She famously wore the jumpsuit during her Astrodome concert, which at the time set an attendance record of 66,000 and would become her last performance before her death.
The purple jumpsuit will replace Selena’s white gown she wore to the 1994 Grammy Awards. March 15 will be the last day it will remain on display.
Selena’s fourth studio album, “Amor Prohibido,” released on March 22,1994, by EMI Latin and nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album, will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame at this year’s Grammy Museum and Recording Academy Grammy Hall of Fame Gala on May 8, 2026.
