G2, one of the world’s most recognizable esports and entertainment organizations, is expanding beyond competitive gaming with the debut of Red Aura, a new original fantasy-action IP. The project marks a significant step in G2’s efforts to broaden its entertainment portfolio through storytelling across multiple media formats.
Developed in partnership with Japanese art director Runbel and KISAI Entertainment — the studio known for its webcomic adaptations of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Beginning After the End — Red Aura is an online comic series that draws thematic inspiration from G2’s history. The comic aims to reflect the organization’s decade of competitive highs and lows through a narrative focused on ambition, adversity and growth.
Red Aura launched today in Japan on LINE Manga, WEBTOON’s regional platform, with additional languages set to follow. G2 confirmed that English-language release details will be shared at a later date.
A Fantasy Tale Rooted in Esports Legacy
The series centers on Asa, a young protagonist who dreams of becoming the greatest “Nomad” in a world where magical nomadic clans wield powers capable of reshaping reality. The comic blends fast-paced action, character-driven storytelling and comedic elements influenced by popular shonen series. Themes will explore political conflict, personal struggle and rivalry, with story arcs loosely inspired by key moments in G2’s competitive legacy.
According to G2, Season 1 will feature more than 40 episodes. The first five chapters are available now in Japanese, with new episodes scheduled to release weekly. The launch arrives as webcomics continue to surge in global popularity. WEBTOON, which helped popularize the vertical-scroll comic format, has grown into a dominant platform for serialized digital storytelling.
G2 framed Red Aura as part of its long-term strategy to build entertainment experiences that reach beyond esports fandom. In recent years, the organization has invested in music, fashion collaborations and original content initiatives to appeal to broader digital audiences.
