She has survived the Great Depression, World War II, and a battle with cancer.
Now, a 99-year-old Ohio great-grandmother known online as “Gangster Granny” has something new to add to her remarkable resume… a Guinness World Record.
The moment drew a thunderous reaction from the crowd, with an artist on stage leading the audience to celebrate the moment.
“Oh, make some noise for Granny,” the artist called out.
Moments later, still riding the wave of the crowd, the performer declared, “That was awesome.”
The record came on the opening night of Kid Rock’s Freedom 250 tour, which itself generated controversy before a single chord was played.
A pre-recorded video shown ahead of Kid Rock’s performance featured Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth offering the Detroit rocker a ride aboard a U.S. Army Apache helicopter, the same type of aircraft at the center of an ongoing military misconduct debate after two Apache helicopters visited Kid Rock’s Nashville-area property in late March.
The pilots involved were suspended, though Hegseth swiftly reversed course, announcing on social media that both the suspensions and the investigation had been dropped.
“No punishment. No investigation,” Hegseth wrote, concluding the post by thanking Kid Rock and adding, “Carry on, patriots.”
The U.S. Army calculates aircraft costs by the hour. According to the Army’s Fiscal Year 2026 Aviation Reimbursement Rate, operating an AH-64D Apache runs $11,034 per hour, while the newer AH-64E model costs $6,841 per hour.
