General Hospital fans have been waiting for the tribute to Monica following Leslie Charleson’s death in January. The time has come, and it won’t be easy.
The ABC soap officially revealed that Monica died today, with Jason (Steve Burton) breaking the news to Tracy (Jane Elliot). Fans are now preparing for what comes next on General Hospital.
Monica Dies on General Hospital
X was on fire following the episode. Even though General Hospital fans knew what was coming, it’s still heartbreaking to watch play out.
“Oh man…that one scene of Jason telling Tracy has me teary. Tomorrow is going to be a Kleenex day. #GH #RIPMonica,” read one X. Another declared, “The sadness begins 😢 #GH.”
A different fan shared, “It’s long overdue, but I’m still sorry it’s finally time to say goodbye to Monica. End of an era. #GH.” One fan got emotional after Jason admitted he didn’t get a final moment with his mother.
“Jason told Tracy that he didn’t get a chance to say anything to Monica…. #GH 🥺,” read the X. Several fans commented on the final scene between Elliot and Burton.
One fan expressed, “Jane and Steve in that last scene… 😢 #GH”, while another stated, “Jane and Steve are about to tear us up. 🥲 #GH.”
General Hospital Fans Gear Up for Emotional Tribute
A fan on X wrote, “Take a deep breath, people #GH,” and it led a different fan to reshare to add, “It’s coming.”
There was a fan who was insistent that Jake better come home for Monica’s funeral. “Jake NEEDS to be a part of saying goodbye to Monica. There’s absolutely no excuse not to have both of Jason’s sons involved in this story. #gh,” read the X.
One fan declared, “And, now let the crying begin. As a General Hospital fan, I’m feeling sad, that they are finally going to lay Leslie Charleson AkA Monica to rest. She has been missed. She was the pillar of GH. I’m assuming, they will have a wonderful Home Going ceremony.😢 #GH.”
“Monica has passed. (They’re finally dealing with it.) It’s a shame Drew was too deplorable to even patch things up before she died. #GH,” said an X.
As Parade reported, General Hospital writers promised a send-off worthy of the legacy Monica and Charleson left in Port Charles.
