For most of the 2010s, Augusta Koch led the beloved Philly band Cayetana, but since then she’s been releasing music with her newer band Gladie (their 2022 album Don’t Know What You’re In Until You’re Out still sounds great). Gladie are about to head out on tour opening for their emo-punk forebears Algernon Cadwallader, but first they’re sharing a new song today called “Car Alarm,” their debut release for their new label home Get Better Records.
Produced by Jeff Rosenstock, “Car Alarm” is scrappy and full of attitude. Koch explains in a press release:
When I was writing “Car Alarm” I was thinking about all of the continued horrific things happening in the world, while still having to participate in daily life. The song is about reckoning with the feelings that come up living in a reality and world that was envisioned without humanity at its core.
