Glen Powell talks about awkward encounter with a celebrity
The Anyone But You star appeared on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, where he detailed his unexpected encounter with a “recently canceled” celebrity. Glen Powell said, “I showed up to the party and there was somebody that had been on the ropes in terms of getting canceled.” He revealed that he was at one of those kinds of Hollywood parties where they are surrounded by cameras.
Without naming the canceled star, Powell further revealed, “This person had made some of my favorite movies and I was like, ‘Oh, this is great. He came up and he said, ‘Nice to meet you.’ I was like, ‘Oh, dude. Such a big fan.”
Then, he mentioned that one of the photographers asked them to take a picture together. But he politely refused as he believed that it wouldn’t be a good idea. “This person was recently canceled and it was not good. I was a fan of their work but not a fan of their choices. So, I was kind of just being nice,” noted the 36-year-old.
He added, “But then, when they wanted to take a picture with you, I realized very quickly—I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know if this is a good idea.’” While the unnamed celebrity witnessed his hesitation, Powell remained firm on his decision not to take a picture with him.
Furthermore, he shared his thoughts about the “recently canceled” star with Shane, saying, “I realized, this guy, his face is toxic.” Powell stated, “Going out into the world, people are having a visceral reaction to this person in terms of the bad choice they’ve made.” He also compared the celebrity to his Chad Powers character, Russ Holliday.
