Louisiana-born musicians were nominated for a number of awards going into the 68th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, and several went home winners. Here’s how things shook out:

The Best Regional Roots Music Album category was stacked exclusively with Louisiana-rooted releases. Trombone Shorty and New Breed Brass Band, Kyle Roussel, Preservation Brass and the Preservation Jazz Band, and Corey Henry and his Treme Funktet — all New Orleanians — secured nominations for their exceptional albums released last year. But the award ultimately went to “A Tribute to the King of Zydeco,” a tribute album to zydeco pioneer Clifton Chenier featuring The Rolling Stones, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal, Steve Earle and a number of South Louisiana heavy-hitters. The album can be found through the Valcour Records label.

Jon Batiste continued his Grammy winning streak last night, winning Best Americana Album for his latest release, “Big Money.” It’s the Kenner native’s eighth Grammy win.

PJ Morton also has been no stranger at the Grammys, and he notched his sixth win on Sunday. He’ll bring back to New Orleans the Best Gospel Album award for “Heart of Mine,” a collaborative EP with vocalist Darrel Walls.

Blues icon Buddy Guy, who was born in Lettsworth and cut his teeth in Baton Rouge before heading to Chicago, took home the Best Traditional Blues Album award for his record, “Ain’t Done With the Blues.”

And pianist Sullivan Fortner, a New Orleans native, took home the Best Jazz Instrumental Album award for “Southern Nights.”

A Loyola University New Orleans graduate, vocalist Johnaye Kendrick also shared in the Grammy win for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals. Kendrick appeared on the Nate Smith and Saje track “Big Fish.”

Other nominated Louisianans include Addison Rae, a Lafayette native now based in Los Angeles, who received a major Best New Artist nod; Baskin native Lainey Wilson, appearing in several country categories; and Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush, who competed against Buddy Guy in the Best Traditional Blues Album category.

Puerto Rican giant Bad Bunny took home Album of the Year on Sunday for his latest, “Debi Tirar Mas Fotos.” Kendick Lamar and SZA shared the Record of the Year award for the song “Luther.” And Olivia Dean was awarded Best New Artist. See the full list of winners at grammy.com.
