Luke and Joel Smallbone of for King + Country have won four Grammy Awards over the years and have received eight nominations. The brothers recently opened up about where they keep their Grammy Awards, and a fun tidbit emerged in the process.

The brothers talked with Taste of Country, and during the conversation, they were asked where they each keep their Grammy Awards. Joel decided to playfully throw Luke under the bus by revealing the unusual move that was made with one of his awards.

Joel shared, “You know what’s fascinating is — and I’m embarrassed to say — Luke put some in his kids’ rooms, and they were used for various… they were a doorstopper at one point.”

Luke was quick to jump in to add some clarity to the story. He began by noting, “Listen, I am part of the Nashville Grammy Board, and I don’t condone or respect his [son ‘s] decisions.”

Then, he explained that when he first received his Grammy Awards, he decided he wanted to display them as a way to honor his kids and wife. The singer is married to Courtney Smallbone, and they have four children: Jude, Phoenix, Leo, and Evie.

He shared that after receiving them at home, “I was like, without my wife and the children, I don’t have the perspective to do this well.”

The for King + Country singer decided to put the Grammys in his kids’ rooms to send a message. He told Taste of Country his thinking was, “Hey, you guys are the reason. You give me courage, you give me the stories, you give me the life to live.”

While Joel’s wording suggested that the Grammy Awards were used in a variety of ways while being in the kids’ rooms, he did not reveal the other creative uses the kids came up with for them. Luke also chose not to mention which of his sons specifically used the award as a doorstop.
