The pair are responsible for some of Benatar‘s most notable hits of including “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker” and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” They have the Grammy Award for Female Rock Performance four years in a row, from 1981–1984.
Outside of music, Benatar and Giraldo have maintained a decades-long commitment to humanitarian causes. Their advocacy work focuses on children’s causes and systemic hunger issues.
Benatar and Giraldo received the ASCAP Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award for their dedication to social justice through music over the summer, Parade reported.
“The evening was filled with love, hope, and good humans dedicated to the service of others. We’re in this together, and together we can make miracles happen,” they said of the award ceremony, according to Live for Live Music.
