Final encore for host Trevor Noah?
Hi! I’m Nick Logan, senior writer for CBC News.
South African comedian and former host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah has become a fixture at the Grammys.
This the 41-year-old’s sixth consecutive time MCing the awards show — and he’s also one the broadcast’s executive producers.
But this will reportedly be his last hurrah.
“He’s so smart, so funny, and such a true fan of the artists and music. His impact on the show has been truly spectacular, and we can’t wait to do it together one last time,” fellow executive producer Brian Winston said in a statement last month.
Only one person has hosted the Grammys more: late crooner and variety show host Andy Williams — there’s no way you haven’t heard his Christmas staple It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year — did it seven consecutive times in the 1970s.
Noah also joins an elite group of hosts who are also nominees in the same year. He’s nominated in the best audio book, narration and storytelling recording category for Into the Uncut Grass. It’s his fourth Grammy nomination overall.
The other Grammys host/nominees were Kenny Rogers, Paul Simon, John Denver and Queen Latifah.
