Prime Day, The World Cup, and the Knicks parade weren’t enough to start Thursday, so Rockstar Games decided to hijack all gaming, tech, and entertainment-adjacent media with a Grand Theft Auto VI announcement.
At least this one isn’t another delay.

On Thursday morning, Rockstar published a very quick YouTube video that doesn’t really count as a trailer since there isn’t any game footage in it. What there is, however, is preorder information. Rockstar confirmed in the video that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will go live across digital storefronts and select physical retailers on June 25. Aside from more or less locking down its Nov. 19 release date, this announcement also means we’re probably going to find out how much the game costs in a week’s time.
It’s been a long and winding journey from the 2013 release of GTA V to now. We still don’t really know much about how GTA VI plays or what unique innovations players can expect from the most hotly anticipated game in a long time, and possibly ever. Presumably, we’ll know more next week.
