Greta Van Fleet have returned with the single “Play Your Games,” their first new song in three years.
The studio track and accompanying music video come a couple days after the band gave the song its live debut at an intimate show at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, along with another new tune called “Tear It Down.”
“Play Your Games,” which was produced by Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Turnstile), was inspired when the band revisited one of its earliest demos. The song opens up with a jangly guitar-driven verse leading up to an anthemic chorus with singer Josh Kiszka singing at the top of his upper register.

“The flagship of [“Play Your Games”] is irreverence,” guitarist Jake Kiszka stated. “It’s this beautiful nature of seizing a moment.”
While a new Greta Van Fleet album hasn’t been announced yet, a press release notes that “Play Your Games” offers “an exciting glimpse into where they are headed next.”
