Following a long public battle with Als, which was announced in April 2025, Hollywood star Eric Dane tragically passed away on Feb. 19, 2026, due to complications from the terminal illness. Only 53 years old at the time of his death, Dane became one of the biggest public faces in the fight against Als over the last year, sharing updates on his progress and endearing himself to fans more than ever before. His death also came exactly 20 years after his debut as Dr. Mark Sloan in the first of 145 Grey’s Anatomy episodes, which became one of his most notable rolesover a six-year run.
