From film premieres to the Grammys, this year’s red carpets have become a showcase for subtly sculpted, soft-focus lips. So far, makeup mogul Nina Park’s trademark “blurred lip” has been at the forefront of the trend, but the newest variation–dubbed “halo lips”–is adding an element of (natural) plumping.
Introduced by celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes, who has recently created the look on the likes of Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber and Lily Allen, the halo effect grants not only fuller-looking lips and gentle definition, but strikes a balance between polished, editorial, and wearable. Flattering for all lip shapes, it’s the simplest way to elevate any everyday makeup look this winter.
