Actress and comedian Jessica Williams is opening up about her bond with her Shrinking castmate, Harrison Ford.
In a February 2026 interview with People magazine, Williams, who portrays therapist Dr. Gaby Evans on the Apple TV comedy, said she enjoys annoying Ford. She explained Ford, now 83, is quite entertaining when he’s irritated.
“I live to irritate that man, both privately and on the show. There’s nothing funnier than seeing Harrison Ford be annoyed. That’s kind of the essence of Harrison and why it works. He plays these kinds of cowboy archetypes that are just hemming and hawing, but secretly want to be there and having a great time,” said Williams, who has starred in Shrinking since its first season, which premiered in 2023.
She also said she believes annoying Ford on the Shrinking set helps him portray his character, Dr. Paul Rhoades.
“if it’s in the script, that’s what I’m gonna do and then I’m gonna just irritate Harrison just a little more so that it gives him something to push off of too. Part of being a good supporting actor is always trying to give that polarity for the other actor,” said Williams while speaking to People.
She clarified that Ford “does bits” and is “very silly.”
“That’s what’s fun about him, he’ll try stuff,” said The Daily Showstar.
Jessica Williams Shared Her Thoughts About Harrison Ford Comparing Her to Yoda
While speaking to the Los Angeles Times for a profile about Williams in 2024, Ford praised her for her comedic abilities. The actor, who famously played Han Solo in the Star Wars film franchise, also compared her to Jedi master, Yoda.
“She gets where the jokes are and she doesn’t require a lot of talk about it. With her, I think of Yoda: ‘There is no talk, only do.’ She’s stretched my imagination,” said Ford to the publication.
During a February 2025 interview on the Not Skinny But Not Fatpodcast, Williams said she wasn’t surprised by Ford’s kind words. She said, however, that she was shocked he mentioned Yoda because he famously doesn’t like talking about Star Wars.
“He never wants to talk about Star Wars. Why did he bring up Yoda like in the Sunday LA Times paper. Like he didn’t have to do that. So weird,” said Williams in the podcast interview.
Shrinking is currently in its third season.
