celebrity.land’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Thursday highlighted what appears to be a rapidly narrowing polling gap in the race between Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to become Donald Trump’s MAGA heir apparent.
Appearing on “News Central,” Enten pointed to new University of New Hampshire polling of potential 2028 GOP presidential candidates in the state.
In February, 53% backed Vance compared with just 7% for Rubio, he said. But that 46-point lead has since shrunk dramatically.
This month, support for Vance has fallen to 36%, while Rubio’s has climbed to 26%, said Enten, leaving just a 10-point gap.
Vance is “dropping like a rock” while Rubio is “climbing up to Mount Washington,” quipped Enten.
“This is probably the best polling data that Marco Rubio’s received and probably the worst polling data that JD Vance has received ahead of 2028 so far,” Enten said.
