The Duke of Sussex has ignited a storm of criticism following his unexpected appearance on The Late Show with host Stephen Colbert, which aired while his father-in-law, Thomas Markle, is reportedly “fighting for his life” in intensive care. During his guest spot, Harry portrayed a version of himself auditioning for the role of a Christmas prince in a Hallmark movie. He humorously stated he’d “do anything” to secure the part in the fictional holiday film. He quipped: “I’ll record a self-tape, I’ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House – all the things you people in TV do.”
In the comedy sketch, the 41 year old poked fun at America’s “obsession” with royalty and made a jest about how the country had “elected a king” – a nod to Donald Trump, reports the Express.
Thomas Jr. reported: “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger. They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the center of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery.” He concluded: “My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”
Twitter users swarmed to the social media platform to weigh in on Harry’s poorly-timed appearance on The Late Show, with one posting: “So Harry thinks it’s normal to do a comedy skit whilst his father-in-law lies in intensive care, in imminent danger, awaiting surgery?
