For Harry Styles fans attempting to score tickets to his newly announced Together, Together tour, what started as hopeful anticipation has quickly devolved into outrage.

Styles topped off a slew of announcements this month with news that he’d be returning to the stage later this year with his Together, Together world tour. The “Aperture” singer is scheduled to play 50 shows across just seven lucky cities. Included among Styles’s 50-date extravaganza are six nights at Wembley Stadium in London and a 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The forthcoming tour is a massive occasion for Styles fans: It’ll mark the first time in three years that the “Adore You” singer is playing for audiences. Styles’s Love On tour came to a close in 2023 after grossing more than $600 million.

Though some were skeptical of the singer’s decision to visit only a handful of cities, many fans seemed willing to make the trek to see their favorite performer live. But that skepticism has only intensified since Styles’s Together, Together ticket presales went live on Ticketmaster this week.

Scoring tickets for the Together, Together tour seemed like a nightmarish feat from the very beginning. In addition to waiting in Ticketmaster’s digital queue of hundreds of thousands of fans for more than an hour, those who did make it through to the seating chart were greeted with tickets priced well outside of their budget.

Tickets for the Together, Together tour were reportedly priced between $50-$1,182.40, including service fees on Ticketmaster. On resale websites like StubHub, a single Styles ticket for the Disco — the pit area directly around the stage — is priced at around $3,500.

“Its getting to the point where I feel like im being forced to outgrow concerts because of how inaccessible they are,” one fan wrote on X. “Every artist no matter who, always has a presale queue of 100k+ and ‘prices’ are a months rent. Tickets sell out in 2 seconds and resale is 3x fv. iIm so over this.”

Another fan on X added, “I think the worst part is that i missed out on so many concerts as a kid because my family couldn’t afford it just to grow up, have my own money, and still be priced out of these opportunities.”

Some fans aren’t just blaming Ticketmaster for the egregious Together, Together ticket prices — they’re also blaming Styles and his team. Regardless of their involvement, some fans believe Styles and his team should intervene and call for lower ticket prices.

One user with the handle @lightsupolusola, who has since made her account private, claimed that Ticketmaster “execs” confirmed to her that “pricing for the together together tour was all set up and predetermined by harry and his team. they said they understand tickets are extremely expensive but there will be no changes as harrys team set the pricing.” She added, “@HSHQ this is gross.”

Yahoo reached out to Styles’s representatives but did not receive an immediate response. A spokesperson for Ticketmaster told Yahoo, however, that the company “does not determine pricing” nor does it “have surge pricing or dynamic algorithms to adjust ticket prices.” Ticketmaster, according to a spokesperson, communicated pricing information — including the price range for remaining tickets — to fans in the digital queue for Styles’s Madison Square Garden shows when the sale began.

In an effort to cope with their outrage, some fans are going so far as to unearth old X posts from Styles to expose what they say is his greed. One fan wrote, “U sure about that,” in response to a 2011 post from Styles in which he quotes Jessie J’s “Price Tag” lyrics: “It’s not about the money, money, money/ we don’t need your money, money, money/ we just wanna make the world dance/ forget about the price tag.”

One disappointed fan on X wrote, “Queue All The Time. Tickets, Occasionally,” riffing off of Styles’s recently announced album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. Another added, referring to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, “Mamdani should ban harry from new york until those msg prices are lowered.”

As disappointment with Styles mounts, fans are comparing him to fellow British artist and singer-songwriter Olivia Dean. Dean, whose tickets for her upcoming The Art of Loving Live tour went on sale last November, was quick to call out Ticketmaster, Live Nation and AEG Presents for allowing scalpers to buy and then sell tickets to her shows way above face value.

“You are providing a disgusting service,” Dean wrote on her Instagram story. “The prices at which you’re allowing tickets to be re-sold is vile and completely against our wishes. live music should be affordable and accessible and we need to find a new way of making that possible. BE BETTER.”

Dean and her team managed to secure partial refunds for fans who had already paid the marked-up resale prices. Ticketmaster also agreed to cap all future resale prices for her tour at face value.

The “Man I Need” singer elaborated on her stance in December, telling Gayle King, “This album specifically was just such an attempt to connect with people and talk about love and loving each other. … I think concert tickets are overpriced. I think that people should be able to come to the show, and it shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.”

Styles is the latest in a long list of artists that includes Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and BTS, whose high ticket prices have become less affordable for fans.
