Has ‘Landman’ been renewed for season 3?

Season 2 of “Landman” is less than halfway over, but Paramount+ has already made an announcement about the next chapter.

“Landman” has officially been renewed for season 3. The news is unsurprising seeing as the show’s star, Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris), told USA Today that he signed a contract for “four or five years.” Sam Elliott, who plays Thornton’s father on season 2, signed a two-year contract.

“We’re talking about season 2, but that’s backstory for us at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward April and May when we start shooting season 3,” Elliott told Extra TV last month.

If Elliott is correct about the filming dates for season 3, the new season of “Landman” could premiere as early as fall 2026. The first two seasons debuted one year apart, in November 2024 and November 2025, so a November 2026 premiere date would make sense for season 3.

“Landman” follows Thornton’s character, Tommy, a fixer for the fictional oil company M-Tex. Tommy’s industry is lucrative, but it’s also messy. He’s never truly off the clock as he deals with employees injured on the job, lawsuits, cartel activity, and economic volatility.

Season 2 has revealed more of Tommy’s backstory, introducing viewers to his aging father (Elliott) after the death of his estranged mother. Series co-creator Christian Wallace recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the first two seasons are “still just skimming the surface” of the show’s full potential.

“Our cast has added so much depth to the characters. They know them so well now that they make it easy to tell an entertaining story,” Wallace said.

In addition to Thornton and Elliott, “Landman” stars Ali Larter (Angela Norris), Jacob Lofland (Cooper Norris), Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris), Paulina Chavez (Ariana Medina), Kayla Wallace (Rebecca Falcone) and Demi Moore (Cami Miller).

New episodes of “Landman” premiere on Paramount+ on Sundays at 3 a.m. ET.
