Helen Mirren has earned the Golden Globe Awards‘ highest honor.
The Oscar-winning British dame will be honored with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award, which celebrates her contributions to entertainment. Previous recipients include Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Eddie Murphy.
Mirren, 80, is a 17-time Golden Globe nominee, winning three times for her work in “Losing Chase,” “The Queen” and miniseries “Elizabeth I.” She was most recently nominated for the Paramount+ series “1923.”
With a 60-year career spanning stage and screen, Mirren has turned in indelible performances in “Gosford Park,” “The Last Station,” “Excalibur” and “The Madness of King George.” She also won a Tony Award for best actress in a play for the 2015 Broadway production of “The Audience,” portraying Queen Elizabeth II − the same role she won an Oscar for in “The Queen.”

“Helen Mirren is a force of nature and her career is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne said in a statement. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honor to present her with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.”
The award will be presented during “Golden Eve,” a new primetime special honoring recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille and the Carol Burnett awards. The special will air Jan. 8, 2026, on CBS (8 ET/PT) and stream on Paramount+.
The 83rd Golden Globes will air Jan. 11 on CBS (8 ET/PT) and stream on Paramount+. Comedian Nikki Glaser will return to host the film and TV awards show after earning rave reviews for her inaugural outing earlier this year.
Mirren most recently starred in the Netflix crime comedy “The Thursday Murder Club.” Speaking to USA TODAY, the acting legend insisted that she has no plans to retire any time soon.
“We love our work and I think we are very lucky in that our work doesn’t have a sort of cutoff date, you know?” Mirren said. “If you’re lucky enough to keep going, you keep going.”
