Investigators found blood and signs of forced entry in the home of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Saturday night after having dinner with her other daughter, Annie. The mother’s family was informed of her unknown whereabouts after Nancy failed to show up for church the next morning. Law enforcement was then called in to check out her home in the Catalina Foothills section near Tucson.
Sources who were not authorized to discuss the case told the Times that blood was found inside the house, but it was not determined where it came from. Guthrie’s wallet, cell phone and car were still there as well.
Nanos said Annie Guthrie’s dinner with her mom narrowed the timeline for the alleged snatching. He addressed potential abductors.
“Just call us. Let her go. Just call us. The family will tell you, there’s no questions asked here,” he told NBC News.
The sheriff said he was not aware of any previous threats to Nancy Guthrie. He said she has no cognitive problems but struggles with mobility and does take a medication that puts her at risk if she does not take it every day.
