Hilary Duff shares the one outfit she could never forget.
While chatting with The Sunday Times, the How I Met Your Father actress, 38, revealed the memorable outfit she was wearing when she welcomed her third child, daughter Mae, 5, into the world. Duff, who’s also a mom to daughters Townes, 23 months, and Banks, 7, and son Luca, 14, joked that she was “looking like Elizabeth Holmes” at the moment.
“I was in a spandex turtleneck that I couldn’t get out of because I went into labor so fast,” she said. “My waters broke, so I had no pants on, just a spandex turtleneck. I delivered my baby at home, looking like Elizabeth Holmes.”
Duff welcomed her first child, son Luca Cruz in 2012, with her then-husband Mike Comrie. Following their split, Duff began dating Matthew Koma. The pair married in 2019 and welcomed daughters Banks Violet in October 2018, Mae James in March 2021 and Townes in May 2024.

During a sit-down with Vanity Fair back in January, the actress and singer rewatched some of her most iconic scenes from her classic works. While looking at a particular moment in the film A Cinderella Story, where her character Sam was sharing a moment with Chad Michael Murray‘s Austin, Duff shared her then 4-year-old daughter Mae’s reaction to one particular aspect of the storyline.
“My 4-year-old has watched this movie and also picked up on like, how could he not know it’s you in that mask? And I was like, ‘It’s the age-old question, honey,’ ” she said. “And she’s like, ‘But it’s you. You are right there. I don’t understand. How does he not know?’ I’m like, ‘I know.’ “
The working mom always tries to prioritize her children, especially while on tour. She’s been open about the hardship of touring while raising her young kids. Back in February, she spoke with Rolling Stone for an interview and shared that while she was recently packing to leave for tour and go to a wardrobe fitting, her daughter Banks was sick at home.
“In my mind, I’m like, ‘They’re going to look back at this time and be like, I was sick and my nanny was painting my toes and my mom was downstairs shopping,’ ” Duff told the outlet. “And I’m like, my job sucks sometimes. You know what I mean?”

While navigating being away from home can be tough, the proud mom always looks for the fun in every moment. Back in February 2025, Duff poked fun at her daughter Mae, mixing some mischief in her Valentine’s Day post. The Lizzie McGuire alum posted several pictures and videos from throughout the years via Instagram Stories to celebrate the February holiday and couldn’t help but add a little humor to the otherwise heartfelt message.
In several slides, she showed a seemingly normal celebration, with pictures of her daughters, Banks Violet and Mae, dressed in white, pink and red. The last image showed Mae having a meltdown because her balloon flew away.
“I can’t help it. I know I’m evil, but it makes me chuckle,” she wrote on a picture of her daughter’s balloon flying away. After she posted two more photos zooming in closer to her daughter’s face, before posting a selfie of herself with the text “Do I keep zooming ??” above it.
