Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received senior members of the Royal Family, top officials, a group of citizens, sports achievers, and members of the Supreme Organising Committee and Executive Committee of the Third Asian Youth Games at Sakhir Palace. The Games were recently hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under His Majesty’s patronage.

 

Speaking at the reception, His Majesty welcomed the attendees and expressed pride in holding the audience in honour of the athletes who participated in the Third Asian Youth Games. His Majesty said the results achieved reflect the capability and readiness of the Bahraini sports sector to deliver notable accomplishments.

 

His Majesty noted that national efforts were aligned from the preparation stage through to the conclusion of the Games, enabling Bahrain to present the event in a manner that reflects the Kingdom’s reputation In Hand organisational capacity. His Majesty highlighted the professionalism, discipline, and cooperation demonstrated by all working teams, which contributed to the successful management of the continental event.

His Majesty congratulated the medal-winning athletes for earning advanced positions and commended their sportsmanship and professionalism. His Majesty also wished Bahraini athletes competing in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh success.

 

His Majesty expressed appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), for his continued efforts for sports development, His Majesty noted that these efforts have recently culminated in Bahrain winning the honour of hosting the 2027 Arab Games an achievement that stands as a new source of national pride and a clear affirmation of the Kingdom’s capabilities. His Majesty instructed that preparations begin early to ensure the event befits Bahrain’s standing and further strengthens its position as a leading sports destination.

 

The medal-winning athletes then had the honour of greeting His Majesty.

 

In his remarks, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad delivered a speech in which he congratulated His Majesty on Bahrain’s successful hosting of the Third Asian Youth Games. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad noted that the event brought together around 8,000 participants from 45 countries and was organised within ten months, presenting Bahrain as an example of efficient and high-quality event delivery. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised that His Majesty’s support remain the driving force behind national sports achievements.

 

His Highness expressed appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his continued support for sports development, and to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the SCYS, for his efforts to empower Bahraini youth.

 

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad thanked the Supreme Organising Committee, Executive Committee, working teams, and volunteers for their efforts. His Highness noted the strong performance of Bahrain’s athletes, who won 13 medals: five gold, five silver, and three bronze.

 

His Highness emphasised Bahrain’s readiness to host the 2027 Arab Games for the first time, noting that the Kingdom has become a prominent destination for major sports events.

 

Then, a poem was recited by Mohammed Hadi Al Halwaji on this occasion.

 

The attendees expressed their thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for the honour of the meeting, noting that the gathering reflects the strong bond between His Majesty and the people of Bahrain. They commended the national achievements realised under His Majesty’s leadership and wished His Majesty abundant health and the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.
