Hollywood legend Diane Keaton has died at age 79, People magazine has reported.
The Oscar-winning actress, whose glittering career spanned more than half a century, died in California, her family confirmed to the outlet via a spokesperson.
No further details have been released, and her loved ones have requested privacy at this time.
Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her breakout role as Kay Adams in The Godfather films before becoming a household name with Annie Hall, which earned her an Oscar for Best Actress in 1977.
Through her five decades in show business, she starred in a string of beloved hits, including Baby Boom, The First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give, and the Book Club movies.

Born Diane Hall in Los Angeles in 1946, Keaton was the eldest of four children. In a 2004 interview with People, she reflected on her mother’s unfulfilled artistic dreams, saying: “She sang. She played the piano. She was beautiful. She was my advocate.”
She is survived by her two children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25.
Following news of her death, tributes quickly poured into the actress’s Instagram page from heartbroken fans.
“RIP to an icon,” one wrote. “You were one of the greatest,” commented another.
Keaton’s last post was published on April 11 to celebrate National Pet Day, in which she’s seen smiling with her golden retriever, Reggie.
