In a December 30 newsletter from her lifestyle brand, As Ever, the Duchess of Sussex described a simple celebration centered on a midnight toast at home. “When the clock strikes midnight, we’ll be celebrating right along with you,” Meghan wrote, per InStyle. “Glasses raised, bottles of bubbly popping, and confetti in the air—only in our case, it’s Flower Sprinkles falling instead,” she added, referencing one of the brand’s products.
“A crisp pour of Brut, a joyful toast and a wish from us to you: may the year ahead be full of good company, memorable nights, and plenty of reasons to celebrate,” she continued, before signing off with, “Cheers, dears!”
The note suggests a relaxed New Year’s Eve for the couple, which aligns with Meghan’s previous comments about their approach to the holiday since becoming parents. Earlier this year, she explained on her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder that she and Harry now follow what she jokingly called an “East Coast New Year’s,” celebrating when the ball drops at 9 P.M. Pacific Time and turning in early.
Their New Year’s celebration will come after a quiet Christmas spent at their home in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4. Meghan offered a peek inside the family’s holiday traditions through her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, including opening British Christmas crackers and preparing a Christmas Eve gumbo based on a recipe from her mother, Doria Ragland.
She also created personalized advent calendars for the kids, writing notes that reflect what she loves most about them. “Hopefully, we’ll have these for quite a long time,” she said after making the gifts. “A tradition has to have a beginning.”
