Days after Taylor Swift shared how Travis Kelce was involved with Chris Lake’s remix of “Opalite,” the couple celebrated the project topping the iTunes chart.
Both commented on Lake’s post about the song’s milestone.
Lake had previously published his DMs with Kelce about the project, which Swift reposted.
Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” remix with DJ Chris Lake came out two days ago on iTunes, and the song quickly topped the platform’s charts. Lake reflected on the success of his collaboration with Swift on Instagram, days after he shared how her fiancé, Travis Kelce, helped make the project happen. Both Swift and Kelce commented on Lake’s post, with Kelce’s remarks especially standing out as a sweet example of how supportive he is of Swift’s career.
Lake wrote, “Woke up to a #1 overall on iTunes 🙂 @taylorswift I’ve also just uploaded my studio session putting the official @taylorswift ‘Opalite’ remix together on my YouTube. Hit the link in my bio to watch it & to download the remix 💎.”
Swift commented, “These videos make me as happy as your remix does—so excited the fans are loving it too!! Appreciate you!!”
Kelce posted a comment as well, writing, “Immediately to the top of the charts!! 🔥🔥 bout to tune into the studio session right now!”
Their interaction comes shortly after Swift shared a screenshot of Kelce’s DM conversation with Lake, where they discussed the project. “Confirmed, Travis is my in-house house guy,” she captioned her Instagram Story, which she posted on Friday.
Lake had reached out to Kelce in January, writing that he’d “take a crack” at remixing “Opalite.” Kelce admitted he was a big fan and couldn’t contain himself (or his emoji use) when he heard the remix for the first time. “Bro how tf do you put shit together this fast, man?” he asked. He added that Swift “loves it too! She said her team’s gonna reach out ASAP.”
Lake captioned his post featuring the full conversation, “When @killatrav & @taylorswift hit you about an official remix.. you get it done 🙂 My official remix of ‘Opalite’ @taylorswift is now available for preorder on CD—stay tuned for more info about the release. Kelce’s involvement with the remix gives a rare glimpse of how the Kansas City Chiefs player has played a role in Swift’s music career beyond being a muse and support system for the star.
In October, she spoke more about how supportive they are of each other’s careers during a BBC Radio 2 interview. The singer had been shutting down rumors that she’d quit making music after she and Kelce get married.
“I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do, and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music,” she said. “That’s the coolest thing about Trav: He is so passionate about what he does that me being passionate about what I do, it connects us. There’s no point in time where he’s going to be like, ‘I’m really upset that you’re still making music, the music thing that I signed up for, that I knew you loved, I thought you were going to stop doing that.’”
The support goes both ways, she added, revealing that their careers actually have a lot in common. “It just is the most fun thing in the world to be able to support each other and the polarity of how different our jobs are,” she said. “But there’s a lot of similarities, too. We both as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three-and-a-half hours in NFL stadiums. We both do three-and-a-half hour shows to entertain people…in NFL stadiums. When I’m in those stadiums, it’s a dressing room. But when he’s in those exact same stadiums, it’s a locker room. For him, it’s practice. For me, it’s rehearsal. For him, it’s a game; for me, it’s a show. We just call them different things. We both have teams. It’s a very similar thing, and we’re both competitive in fun ways—not in ways that eat away at us, but we just love it.”
