Sarah Ferguson’s host of “rich and powerful” friends haven’t abandoned her amid the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal for one crucial reason, according to a royal expert. The former Duchess of York has made headlines for her relationship with the late paedophile in recent months after emails between the two were made public by the US Department of Justice (DoJ). The exchanges, sent after Epstein was convicted of child sex offences, showed Sarah calling him a “legend” and jokingly asking him to marry her.
While her whereabouts are currently unknown, it has been speculated that she has sought refuge with one of many rich and affluent friends gathered through her association with the monarchy. Despite her sullied reputation, the former duchess will likely still be able to rely on such contacts, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward.
“She’s got some rich and powerful friends who probably will stick by her, because we know rich and powerful people like drama, and this is a great drama, isn’t it?” Ms Seward told OK Magazine.
But the 66-year-old mother-of-two may still be counting on the scandal blowing over, and could be retreating from public view until she believes it is safe to emerge.
Ms Seward said: “She has a massively endearing type of personality. It’s a tragedy that her bad side has got the stronger hold over her than the good side.

“So the bad side is the greed, the stupidity and obsessively wanting things. She desperately, desperately wants to be liked.
“Maybe she’s literally got her head in the sand thinking, ‘this will all go away’. And it’s not impossible in a way, if Andrew isn’t convicted of a crime.”
Andrew’s arrest on his 66th birthday, which saw him held for 11 hours in police custody before being released under investigation, was the culmination of months of speculation about his links with Epstein.
It followed King Charles’ decision to strip his younger brother of his royal titles and evict him from his Windsor residence last year, with Sarah becoming collateral damage and also losing her duchess status and home of 20 years.
