A FOX 9 glitch that went viral in 2021 got an encore presentation on Wednesday, as anchors Randy Meier and Kelcey Carlson got a “lava lamp” effect during Wednesday’s broadcast.
The station posted the clip on social media, alongside the original, calling it “a small technical glitch” during the weather segment.
Though FOX 9 acknowledged that “nothing will ever top” the laugh-filled original, which had Jennifer McDermed looking like the cover of an Animorphs book.
This week’s minor mishap saw meteorologist Ian Leonard directing Meier and Carlson to make their psychedelic new look.
“Go with it Randy, go with it,” Leonard said before beatboxing a soundtrack. “Now come together, and back out. I love it. I love everything about this.”
The 2021 incident was so memorable that it was highlighted on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, and wound up with more than 18 million views on YouTube.
