I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! viewers will no longer be able to vote for a contestant to do three or more Bushtucker Trials in a row.
Show bosses have implemented a new rule change for the upcoming series, in which stars can only do a maximum of two Trials consecutively.
If they are voted for two challenges in a row, they will then be exempt from the next vote.
The system will then reset, and celebs can be voted for a further Trial or two afterwards.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Celebrities all want the opportunity to take on a Bushtucker Trial and bring home stars for camp.
“Viewers would much prefer to see different celebrities take on the iconic Bushtucker Trials as opposed to the same person every day.
“This is a great move for fans of the show so we don’t see the same faces doing the trials, as well as uncovering new favourites.”
It’s thought this will be a welcome rule change for this year’s celebrity contestants, who include model Kelly Brook, rapper Aitch, and Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley.
The source added: “It’s a win-win for the celebs too, who are keen for more chances to get their personalities across.”
Last year, I’m A Celebrity presenter Ant McPartlin questioned why the public kept voting Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough for Bushtucker Trials.
He told viewers on spin-off show Unpacked: “I think it’s good to see other faces there.
“It’s not about Dean.
“It’s about us seeing different people down there, and we want to see different people being featured.
“You just get to a point where you go, ‘Who’s still voting for Dean?’ I don’t get it.”
Dean endured seven Trials in total, and had to end two early.
He faced six public voted Trials in succession – with a show-enforced challenge by late entrants Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles sandwiched in between his run – and in 2022 former Health Secretary Matt Hancock also faced six Trials in a row.
Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas has faced the most-ever Bushtucker Trials in one series, after he took part in 12 challenges in 2016’s 16th series.
