The emotional departure left campmates in tears as the star had to exit the Australian jungle on medical advice just days before the live final on Friday night
Shock gripped the I’m A Celebrity camp during tonight’s episode as one contestant was forced to withdraw from the show on medical grounds. The unexpected development left the entire group reeling and brought tears to the camp.
The dramatic moment unfolded at the beginning of the day when an emotional campmate gathered everyone together. They revealed: “I’ve just got something to tell you all.
“I didn’t feel very well this morning… and the medics have advised I can’t return to camp. I’ve got to go home.”
Fighting back tears, they added: “I don’t want to go. I’m absolutely gutted. I wanted to finish.”
The remaining campmates embraced the star before their departure, leaving everyone visibly shaken. The Mirror is aware of which celebrity is leaving but is withholding their identity to allow viewers to watch the drama unfold on TV tonight.
The unexpected exit leaves eight contestants remaining in the battle to be crowned a ‘legend’ during Friday’s live final. They’ll face the Rancid Run trial, which was teased during Monday night’s episode and sees them competing in pairs.
Further evictions are anticipated throughout the week, whittling the group down to four celebrities competing in the finale. In previous series of the Australian version, other contestants have departed on medical grounds.
Monday night saw David Haye and Gemma Collins eliminated from the camp. Last week, comedian Seann Walsh became the first celebrity to depart this series in South Africa.
This year’s All Stars series has seen former boxer David face criticism for comments made within the camp. Last week, he described his girlfriend Sian as an “ugly duckling,” leaving his campmates visibly taken aback. While he called Sian “lovely,” he went on to say she “has the personality of a proper ugly bird.”
He explained: “Most ugly girls realise they’ve gotta have a personality and the banter to tell jokes and s**t, so people overlook the fact that they’re not aesthetically amazing straight away.
“It’s called ugly duckling syndrome, where girls are ugly when they start off, then they get pretty as they get older, but they’ve still got the personality of when they were ugly.”
In another incident, he faced backlash for his treatment of Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas, who pulled out of a Bushtucker Trial due to dehydration and low energy caused by his autoimmune condition.
David lashed out, branding Adam “useless” and saying he didn’t “give a s**t” if he was feeling poorly. Following his departure from the show, he insisted there was “no bad blood” on his part towards Adam.
He remarked: “I’ve been immersed in tough boxing gyms since I was ten years old.
“Literally fighting daily, much bigger men than myself, pushing myself to the limits, physically and mentally. I won the world heavyweight championship against a seven-foot Russian giant.
“So when a grown man tells me that a fun TV show – where we’re being paid handsomely every single day – is the hardest thing he’s ever been through, it’s just not a frequency I recognise.”
I’m A Celebrity returns to Virgin Media One this evening at 9pm.
