Gemma Collins has thrown her support behind best friend Adam Thomas as he battles to win I’m A Celebrity… South Africa following her elimination from the ITV show
Gemma Collins has rallied behind her closest friend Adam Thomas following a turbulent few days on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.
The Towie icon was voted out of the camp alongside David Haye just days before the final, but not before forging a strong bond with Emmerdale actor Adam during her time on the show.
Alongside enduring Ant and Dec’s stomach-turning challenges, Adam has had a tough time on the ITV reality show, having faced jibes from David while battling an undisclosed health issue, as well as a fiery confrontation with Jimmy Bullard.
He has since confessed he “wanted to quit” in a heartfelt social media post, but Gemma has publicly backed him with a series of touching statements.
Urging viewers to vote for Adam to take the crown, Gemma posted a compilation of clips featuring him from the camp on Instagram, writing: “‘Only people who recognise your magic deserve the best of you’,” reports Wales Online.

“Not everyone has the eyes for it, and that’s not your problem. Save your sparkle for the ones who feel your light, not the ones who squint at it.
“Best jungle friend ever. Not just for the laughs, but for every storm we somehow danced through. We’ve seen each other at our lowest and still chose to stay, to lift, to believe. That journey… it didn’t just make memories, it made us unbreakable. Forever grateful for you. Always.”
Supporters flooded the comments with affection for the pair, with one fan writing: “The duo we never knew we needed.”
“Beautiful words Gemma. Adam is the sweetest person, I’m hoping he wins,” another said.
Just hours beforehand, Adam had paid homage to Gemma in his own post following her departure, with the GC responding: “This bond will NEVER BE BROKEN YOU GOT ME THROUGH.”
Adam had written: “From start to finish you was real, no act, no front, just you. The laughs, the tears, the way you were there for people when they needed it most, especially Me! I was there to pick you up and you did the same for me, had my back every step of the way.
“If I’m being honest, if you wasn’t in there I probably would’ve walked a long time ago. You kept it going for me more than you even know.
“Everyone can see how special you are. You showed humility, empathy, strength, and still managed to bring the entertainment every single time!!
“As a viewer, you MADE that show for me. No question. Should’ve been in that final, should’ve been crowned, but either way, you’ll always be my queen of the jungle.
“Best thing to ever come out of that experience for me… was meeting you @gemmacollins.”
The Waterloo Road actor had previously spoken candidly about the physical struggles he endured in the camp, while battling ongoing arthritis.
He said: “Not going to lie, this picture breaks my heart, as I know on the inside what I was dealing with and truth be told I thought it was all my fault. I now know that’s not the reality…
“My time in I’m a Celebrity South Africa was one of the toughest things I’ve ever been through, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
“Watching it back hasn’t been easy at all. There were moments I felt pushed to my absolute limit, and if I’m honest, times I didn’t even recognise myself. Living with arthritis is something I don’t really talk about, as much as I should do…but in there it really took its toll. My biggest fight was pretending to put on a brave face and trying to hide the pain! that can be exhausting within itself. There were days my body just didn’t want to keep going, but I did.
“I won’t sit here and say I handled everything perfectly, because I didn’t. I wish I spoke up for myself sooner. I wish I stood my ground instead of trying to keep the peace, but I’ve learned that being kind doesn’t mean being weak, and sometimes it takes going through tough moments to find your voice.
“Since coming out, I’ve taken time to process everything, and I’m in a much better place now. I let go of the anger, had the conversations I needed to have, and chose peace.
“What I’m most proud of, is at times like this I wanted to walk, I wanted to quit but I didn’t . Even when I wanted to walk away, even when it felt like too much, I never give up! and that means everything to me.
“He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge. But thank you for all your lovely messages and all the kind words.
“We all face people and situations that try to break us, but sometimes those moments are what rebuild you stronger than ever. Be kind.”
Fellow campmate Ashley Roberts offered her support, writing: “Adam bless you. You have such a big heart. I’m sorry you struggled in there,” while Scarlett Moffatt added: “Awwww Adam I bloody love you. You’re one of the kindest men I know, if my little boy ends up being as caring as you then I know I’ll have done a good job a mam. Lots of love.”
I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
