Images: Another sizable Centennial Yards building has topped out

In case you haven’t visited downtown lately (or seen it on national sports broadcasts), construction has been moving at a rapid clip over fall and winter months in what used to be the Gulch.

A year ago, Centennial Yards’ Entertainment District was barely coming out of the ground at the doorstep of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and a recently renamed MARTA station.

Today, Centennial Yards has topped out its third-tallest structure to date as a cornerstone of the Entertainment District, while secondary buildings including a new Live Nation music venue and Cosm immersive technology experience round into shape.

The recently topped-out hotel—a 14-story lodge previously described by Centennial Yards leadership as boutique—has risen at the edge of the Entertainment District farthest from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena.

We’ve asked Centennial Yards reps for more information on when the next hotel might deliver—and who might operate it—and we’ll update this story with additional details that come.

No other details about the district’s second hotel beyond its height have been disclosed to date.

Construction progress across the 8-acre Entertainment District—set to span roughly 470,000 square feet—is evidence of how Centennial Yards is aiming to emerge as a culinary and social hub in time for 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, which kick off in Atlanta in June.

Recent signings at the Entertainment District include Busy Bee Café, Shake Shack, and The Irish Exit, a New York City Irish pub, among others. Cosm is on pace to open at some point this year, too.

The Entertainment District is envisioned as a central component of the 50-acre redevelopment expected to cost at least $5 billion and add several city blocks to downtown, with assistance from a record City of Atlanta tax incentives package. Plans also call for roughly 2,000 new residences eventually.

A four-story Centennial Yards hotel project is also moving forward on vacant land where downtown meets Castleberry Hill, along Ellis Street.

Completed buildings include Centennial Yards’ first apartment tower The Mitchell (18 stories tall) and the upscale new Hotel Phoenix, an 18-story lodge with 292 guest rooms, 15 suites, and a penthouse.
