IMAX (NYSE:IMAX) and Goer Dynamics have announced a strategic partnership to develop an IMAX-branded in-vehicle entertainment system, with commercial production scheduled to begin before the end of 2026.
New platform targets premium automotive market
The jointly developed system will combine Goer Dynamics’ automotive technology with IMAX’s entertainment expertise to deliver an immersive viewing experience inside vehicles.
According to the companies, the platform will feature a 4K HDR fold-down display alongside a multi-dimensional acoustic system designed to provide cinema-quality audio and visual performance.
The display will also incorporate ambient light adaptation technology to help maintain picture quality under varying driving conditions.
Flexible design for multiple vehicle models
The entertainment system will be offered in modular configurations, allowing automotive manufacturers to tailor speaker layouts and equipment packages across different vehicle models and trim levels.
This flexible approach is intended to simplify integration into a wide range of premium vehicles.
Companies target China’s premium EV market
Goer Dynamics and IMAX plan to jointly market the new platform to premium automotive manufacturers in China.
The partnership was formally announced during a signing ceremony in Qingdao.
Daniel Manwaring, Chief Executive Officer of IMAX China, said autonomous driving technology is expected to increase demand for advanced in-car entertainment.
He said vehicle buyers will “increasingly focus on immersive entertainment systems in their purchase decisions.”
Tony Jiang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goer Dynamics, said the collaboration builds on the company’s expertise in automotive acoustics and intelligent cockpit technologies.
Focus on next-generation mobility
Founded in 2020, Goer Dynamics is part of the Goer Group and owns audio brands including Dynaudio and Libratone.
The company says it has already supplied in-vehicle entertainment systems for nearly three million new energy vehicles.
As of 31 March 2026, IMAX operated 1,865 cinema systems across 91 countries and territories, and the partnership represents a further expansion of the company’s brand into emerging mobility technologies.
