King Charles and Donald Trump have a “fantastic relationship”, according to body language expert Darren Stanton. The King and Queen Camilla travelled to Washington DC on Monday, with their four-day visit set to conclude tomorrow.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, the body language expert analysed the pair’s relationship based on two outings during the first two days of the visit. Looking at the moment Trump revealed that his late mother had a crush on the King, Mr Stanton said that the 77-year-old appeared to showcase his “fantastic sense of humour”.
He said, “I think the two of them have a fantastic relationship and a strong bond. Charles demonstrated his fantastic sense of humour in this.”
He added: “He rolled his eyes and raised his eyebrows as if to say “thanks for that”.
“He took it on the chin and took it in good grace. Something he has done throughout this visit – I feel he has done wonders for US and UK relations over the last few days.”
The second outing was when the King appeared in the Oval Office of the White House alongside the US President, where Trump was seen placing his hand on the monarch’s knee.
He said: “This was a really significant gestural slip. But Charles again handled it with real grace and didn’t show any outward signs of discomfort – only reacting with laughter.
“The fact it happened is a testament to the relationship Charles has been able to build.”
“That kind of contact is a gesture of endearment and really demonstrates the strength of the feelings towards the King, and Charles’ minimal reaction suggests those feelings are reciprocated.”
The Queen is also in the US with her husband.
