Fans had hopes of saving the Hallmark Channel series “The Way Home,” but the fantasy drama is officially coming to an end.
“The Way Home” will end with season 4, which is set to premiere in 2026. The decision comes despite fans of the show, who call themselves Ponderers or Way Homies, petitioning for a fifth season.
“We’re asking Hallmark Media to renew The Way Home for Season 5 and to let this extraordinary journey keep unfolding,” a Change.Org petition reads. “There are rare shows that don’t just entertain us…. they heal us. The Way Home is one of them. It’s a story about love and loss, forgiveness and faith, about finding your way back to the people and places that shape who you are. It reminds us that time may move forward, but connection is timeless.”
The time travel series follows three generations of women from the Landry family: Kat (Chyler Leigh), Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow), and Del Watson (Andie MacDowell). The trio embark on a journey in their small Canadian farm town of Port Haven, trying to find each other while traveling through time.
In a statement to People confirming the end of the series, SVP of programming at Hallmark Media Samantha DiPippo said: “Fans of ‘The Way Home’ have enthusiastically watched and rewatched every episode since the first pond jump of season 1 as they’ve tried to piece together the brilliant puzzle [series creators] Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke and Marly Reed expertly crafted. We’re grateful to our talented cast led by Andie, Chyler, Evan and Sadie, as well as our amazing writers and crew who have worked so hard on this show.”
Unsurprisingly, fans of the show are devastated by the news.

“Have they lost their minds at Hallmark? This is one of their best shows. Always waiting for the next episode to see what would happen. Very disappointed in this network,” one viewer wrote via Reddit.
“The Way Home is without a doubt superior to anything else Hallmark has to offer. The cast and writers are top notch,” another person commented. “The concept is original and so much better than the usual cookie cutter storyline from Hallmark. So sad about this decision.”
Another fan argued that they’d “rather [the show] go out like this” than “just keep going because of the ratings, and then the writing goes to hell.”
“The Way Home” is available to stream on Hallmark+.
