A Royal expert, who has been following Princess Catherine and Prince William’s romance for two decades, has revealed her key observation about the Princess.
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl, who writes for Vanity Fair, reflected on the couple’s bond in a documentary about Princess Catherine, tracing back to their university days at St Andrew’s in the early 2000s.
In the programme, Katie observed that it seemed Catherine has always been destined for her future role as Queen. She explained to The Sun: “I’ve covered William and Catherine’s relationship since they met at St. Andrews and, you know, nearly 20 years ago.
“And I think when you look back on Catherine and how she conducted herself then it is almost as if she was born to do this to do this role.”
This marks yet another occasion where Catherine’s upcoming position has sparked discussion in recent times. With King Charles, who celebrated his 77th birthday in November, getting older, focus has shifted to how the monarchy might evolve under William and Catherine’s leadership.
Podcaster and actress Giovanna Fletcher, who spoke with Catherine in early 2020, believes she will be a monarch who remains “very aware of what’s going on” across Britain.
She shared with The Times: “She’s full of heart. I think she’ll be a queen who really listens, who leans in, who’s very aware of what’s going on.
“I don’t feel like it’s ‘us v them’. We have to work together as a society to make that change happen [and] I think they get it. They understand things. And so, for that reason, I think it will be a welcome change.”
Moreover, Giovanna revealed to the publication that Catherine confessed to her about a common habit she shares with many non-royals regarding her mobile phone.
She shared: “Kate told me that she was notoriously bad at keeping an eye on her phone. She always loses her phone.”
While much speculation surrounds what kind of Queen Catherine will become, there is equal curiosity about Prince William‘s future reign.
In a conversation with Canadian actor Eugene Levy on his Apple TV show last year, William hinted at his plans for change.
William stated: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good, and I embrace that, I enjoy that change.
“I don’t fear it, that’s the bit that excites me, the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical, but changes that I think need to happen.
“There are points when you look at tradition and go, is that still fit for purpose today? Is that still the right thing to do? Are we still doing and having the most impact we could be having? So I like to question things, is what I’m really getting at.”
