“Man of Steel” Soe Lin Oo has built a reputation as one of Myanmar’s most durable warriors, and he is ready to resume business in trademark fashion in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 139.

The 34-year-old locks horns with Worapon Lukjaoporongtom in a bantamweight Muay Thai clash, which airs live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, January 23.

Every fight in the world’s largest martial arts organization represents an opportunity to leave a lasting impression, and a headliner battle against a young technician provides the perfect stage for the Doe Yoe Yar Lethwei Club warrior to do just that.

While he’s out to put on a show, Soe Lin Oo knows his route to a victory won’t be straightforward, as his 23-year-old opponent represents a formidable test.

He told onefc.com:

“Worapon is a good fighter. He is still young. His techniques are really good. He’s fast and agile and a dangerous fighter.”

The respect is evident. Still, “Man of Steel” is confident he holds several advantages over the Sor Dechapan standout when the action heats up.

Worapon, who’s more than a decade his junior, has vowed to put him to sleep leading up to their battle. Soe Lin Oo doesn’t buy that theory, though.

The lethwei specialist shared:

“I know he loves getting in the clinch. But I like the clinch as well. So, while he’s good at it, if we fight in the clinch, it’s going to be very easy for me, as I love fighting there.

“Also, usually, for my previous fight camps, I only train my punches. But for this fight, fans can expect me to use low kicks and body kicks because I’ve worked hard on them to make sure that I can rely not only on punches, but kicks, too.”

While Soe Lin Oo, who’s acquired all his promotional victories via knockout, doesn’t share the same prediction as his foe, he promises to keep the action tight and entertaining.

The Myanmar veteran has his back against the wall after succumbing to three straight defeats, so he doesn’t plan to bite more than he can chew ahead of fight night in Thailand.

He added:

“I cannot precisely say how I will perform in this fight, but all I can say is that I’ve trained very hard for this fight. I’ve prepared very well for this fight because I know I have to compete with someone young.

“However, my plan for this fight is to pressure him. The fight is only three rounds. So, I don’t want to give him any chance to be in control. This will be entertaining.”

Soe Lin Oo Committed To Inspiring Myanmar’s Next Generation

Soe Lin Oo’s career took a significant turn after he delivered a third straight highlight-reel finish at ONE Friday Fights 69 against Pongsiri PK Saenchai.

The victory earned the tough-as-nails combatant a life-changing US$100,000 contract and a spot on the organization’s main roster. However, “Man of Steel” isn’t just concerned with his own trajectory.

Instead, his focus is on how he can use his success to light the path for Myanmar’s next generation of warriors to follow:

“Since getting the contract, I’d say my image has improved. My life has changed a lot, too.

“I noticed that the younger generation of fighters from Myanmar also have more belief, and some of them have even gone on to compete in ONE Championship.”

His nation’s combat sports legacy runs deep on the global stage of martial arts, after all.

Now-retired “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang set the standard as a two-division ONE MMA World Champion. In fact, the former light heavyweight and middleweight king was inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame at ONE 173 this past November.

Vero “The Kayan Leopard,” Thway Lin Htet, “The Phenom” Tun Min Aung, and Thant Zin have consistently proved themselves among the world’s elite, too.

While he tackles his own career goals and aims to become the next ONE World Champion from his country, he’s fully committed to guiding this generation of warriors at Doe Yoe Yar Lethwei Club.

“Man of Steel” takes immense pride to continue elevating Myanmar’s status in the combat sports realm.

He concluded:

“I’ve spent a lot of time training with the fighters from my gym, teaching them new techniques and supervising their development. I’ve shown them new styles, and I’ve accompanied them to their fights to support them.”
