J.K. Rowling Calls Emma Watson ‘Ignorant’ as Public Feud Intensifies

J.K. Rowling doesn’t seem very concerned about burning bridges with those she used to work with on one of the most successful film series of all time. The Harry Potter author is clapping back at actress Emma Watson after the actress spoke publicly about their complex relationship.

Rowling has known Watson since she was only a child and was cast for the infamous role of Hermione Granger in the film version of the Harry Potter hit series. She would go on to continue to play the role from 2001 through 2011.

Unfortunately, since the series has wrapped up, Rowling and Watson have not remained on the best of terms. In a recent interview, Watson was asked about where she stands with Rowling, who has become known for her controversial stance against transgender rights.

“I guess where I’ve landed it, it’s not so much what we say or what we believe, it’s how we say it. I just see this world right now where we seem to giving permission to this throwing out of people, or that people are disposable. I will always think that’s wrong,” Watson began.

She went on to say that she would like to have a discussion with Rowling about their differing views. However, she suggested that she hasn’t gotten that opportunity.

“I think the thing I’m most upset about is that a conversation was never made possible,” she said.

However, she made it clear that she doesn’t believe that Rowling should be “canceled” for being public about her beliefs.

Now, Rowling is responding and is making it clear that she doesn’t care what Watson, or anyone else, thinks of her.

“I’m not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days,” Rowling shared on social media.

She then took the public feud a step further.

“Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is,” she said.
